If you’ve read our past blog posts, you may already know what a great ROI a new garage door can give you! If you haven’t, check out this great article: Upgrading Your Home’s Garage Door. In Iowa, specifically, replacing your garage door yields an average 72.9% return on investment. The national average is even higher—82.5%!

Not only is it a great investment, but giving your home a facelift by replacing your garage door will also greatly increase curb appeal as well as make your home a safer place for the whole family.

If you’re considering replacing your garage door, you’ve come to the right place! Wayne Dalton builds and installs quality, unique, customized garage doors. No matter what type of home you have, you're sure to find the perfect door to complement it.

Wayne Dalton Design Center

Wayne Dalton has a diverse selection of garage door parts and materials for you to choose from. To design a garage door of your very own, you can play around with the Wayne Dalton Garage Door Design Center! It will guide you through several steps to help you build a garage door of your very own.

Step 1: Either upload a photo of your own home, or choose a home similar to yours from the online gallery.

Step 2: Choose a type of garage door: Materials include wood, Carriage House steel, fiberglass, classic steel, aluminum, or specialty vinyl. Wayne Dalton offers several styles for each. Panels and grooves can vary greatly among them.

Step 3: Getting even more specific, you can now select a model based on the type and style you’ve already chosen. Different models vary by stile and rail construction and architectural style.

Step 4: Choose a panel design to complement the look and feel of your home. Panels on doors may be grooved, raised, narrow, wide, diagonal, crossbuck, etc.

Step 5: Pick a color that looks great alongside your home’s exterior. Most of our garage doors come in a large array of color options.

Step 6: Do you want your door to have windows? Choose from several different window trim options. The trim will determine how many windows you have, their shape, and their size. Some garage door models allow you to choose between arched and squared designs.

Step 7: Choose a type of glass. Depending on the model, you may have the option to choose from clear, satin etched privacy, or obscure glass. Your choice will likely depend on how well you want to be able to see into or out of your garage and how much natural light you want.

Step 8: It’s time to accessorize! Make your door unique by adding decorative hardware. Choose a style of hinges or handles. These accent pieces come in several styles: Arrow, Barcelona, Spear, Fleur De Lis, Conifer, and Aspen.

Step 9: If you’d like to add even more personality to your door, you have the option of adding additional hardware: knockers, handles, clavos, and door studs.

Step 10: Your last step is to pick out a type of garage door opener.

Once you’re finished with all 10 steps and you’ve designed a beautiful door that complements your home perfectly, you can save, print, and email the file! If you decide you want to follow through with it, it will then be readily available for you to show your local garage door dealer when the time comes.
