All I Want for Christmas Is a New Garage Door

If your garage door is old, worn down, outdated, or doesn’t work anymore, it's time to look into buying a new one. Installing a new garage door can increase the resale value of your home, improve its overall look and feel, and save you money you'd otherwise be spending on costly repairs. If you can relate to any of the following scenarios, it's probably past time to replace your garage door.

Your garage door doesn’t work anymore.

Do you have to open your garage door by lifting it off the ground and pushing it open? If you do, it's clearly in need of repair. If you’ve been doing this for a long time, your garage door system may need to be replaced entirely. Stop and call a local garage door technician before more damage is done. If you can’t lift your door or it's very difficult to lift, you probably have a broken garage door spring or two. Call a local garage door technician you trust to assess the situation and offer a solution.

Keep in mind that, depending on how much damage is done, it may be more cost effective to replace than repair your worn out or broken garage door. Get an expert’s opinion as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the more expensive it will be to fix. The older your door gets, the more worn out the parts will become and more repairs you'll need to keep it running smoothly.

Your garage door is outdated.

Does your garage door look like it was installed 50 years ago? If your door is an eyesore, with chips, cracks, peeling paint, dents, or warping panels, it could be bringing down the look of your entire home. Give your place a facelift by updating your garage door! If your door and opener are old, they also may be lacking important safety features. If your garage door opener doesn't have a rolling code like modern openers do, thieves could easily match your opener’s code and break into your garage door. If your garage door system lacks safety reverse sensors, your door is a safety hazard. Safety sensors send a beam of light across the bottom of the doorway. If anything or anyone is standing in the beam's path, the door won’t close.

You need a change.

If you feel like you need to do something different with your house, installing a new garage door could make it feel fresh and new again! Today, you have a huge variety of doors to choose from. You could install a contemporary aluminum door to modernize your space or a carriage house steel door to complement the classic or homey look you may already have. Experiment with different types of doors to see which looks best on your home by using the Wayne Dalton Design Center! Simply upload a front-view photo of your garage door, and have fun designing!
