With the new application, you can create a custom garage door, making it as simple or ornate as you like. Having a design in mind when you call your garage door installer will make the garage door buying process much easier.
The new program is easier to use than the old one, and it allows you to save and share photos of your end product with anyone. Today, we’ll do a step-by-step walk-through of the garage door design process so you can see how easy and efficient it is. The Wayne Dalton Garage Door Design Center
Step 1
On the Garage Door Design Center home page, choose a type of door from the following categories:
- Handcrafted wood
- Contemporary aluminum
- Carriage house steel
- Classic steel
- Designer fiberglass
- Specialty Vinyl

Step 2
Once you choose a type of door, pick a specific model, depending on the type of paneling you like.
Step 3
Now it's time to customize! Customization options vary depending on which type of door you’ve chosen. For example, for carriage house steel, you can alter the door size and color as well as add windows or decorative hardware if desired. If you choose handcrafted wood, the selection process is a bit different. You’ll select a type of door construction and a wood species and then have the option to add windows and extra hardware.
To get a closer look at your design throughout the process, you can zoom in or out. You can also undo or redo an action. You can view your selections on the right side of the page.
Step 4
To view the door you just designed on your own garage, click on the “Apply to Home Photo” button. You can either choose from a group of photos already uploaded to the site, or you can upload a photo of your home. We recommend that you upload a photo of the front view of your home to get a more accurate picture of what the door will look like when installed.
Step 5
Once your photo is uploaded, you’ll see what the door looks like on your garage! If you don’t like it or want to adjust something, you can make edits that will be applied directly to the photo. Keep making adjustments until you like what you see.
Step 6
When you’re happy with your design, you can save it, print it, and share it via email, Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest. That’s all there is to it! The Garage Door Design Center is a modern, convenient way for you to take control and create the perfect garage door for your home.
